SpeakTX

INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOME USER

MT | ENG

1. Conditions of Use

To be able to use SpeakTX, you must have a speech and language pathologist (specialist) at the Primary HealthCare’s Speech and Language Pathology Centre of Excellence.

Your specialist will create an account for you on SpeakTX. To do this, your specialist needs your first and last name and your email address.

Please ensure that the email address you provide is active and regularly used.

In order to use SpeakTX, make sure you have a computer, a laptop, or a tablet at hand. We don't recommend using a mobile phone to access SpeakTX.

2. Login

Once your account is created, you will receive an automatic email from us.

Open your mailbox and find the email from us. If you can’t find this email in your inbox, check other folders such as “Promotions”, “Spam”, etc.

The email contains the four-letter access code you will need to log in to SpeakTX.

Go here and, under “Home User”, enter the code received in the email. Make sure that you type all the letters of the code as lowercase letters. Then select “Login”.

Keep your code in mind and don’t share it with anyone.

Use the same code for all the subsequent logins.

After logging in, you will be directed to your dashboard.

3. Dashboard

In your dashboard, you will see your exercise plan.

In the page header, you can see the names of all the specialists under whose guidance you will be using SpeakTX.

From the header, you can access these instructions.

You can also fill in your profile here. Only your specialist can see your profile.

You will also find the logout button here. Don’t forget to log out after each session.

4. Exercise Plan

The exercise plan enhances cooperation between you or your child and your specialist.

The exercise plan is created by your specialist. The specialist assigns specific exercises to you or your child, with additional instructions and deadlines. You will have a better overview of what the specialist expects from you or your child when doing the exercises.

The specialist can send notifications to your email about each exercise or comment added to the plan. This enables you to comfortably keep track of the changes in the exercise plan without logging in to SpeakTX.

Please follow your specialist's instructions when doing the exercises in the plan.

5. Language

If you speak Maltese, select “Maltese” from the menu on the left to access your exercise plan with Maltese exercises.

If you speak English, select “English”.

If you require speech therapy in both Maltese and English, you will find two separate exercise plans under these languages.

6. Exercise Plan Content

In the exercise plan, you will find three types of content:

The digital exercises are in red, while the descriptive exercises and the video consultation links are in blue.

To open an exercise or a video consultation link, select its title.

7. Exercise Intro Page

When opening an interactive SpeakTX exercise, you will first see its intro page, where you will find answers to the following questions:

Read these instructions carefully before starting the exercise. Since SpeakTX offers a wide variety of exercises, make sure that you understand what you are expected to do in each case.

To open an exercise, select “Start”.

From the intro page you will also have access to your exercise results later on.

8. Exercise Content

SpeakTX offers a large variety of exercises. The exercises are used for diverse purposes and contain different functions. Your specialist will probably ask you to do different things in different exercises.

For exercises that include sound, turn on the speakers on your device.

You will see the following components on the screen:

Each exercise is spread out on multiple pages. You are required to do something on every page. The pages of an exercise are indicated by circles above the images or the text. The circles show your progress through the exercise.

In some exercises, you will receive immediate feedback on each page.

The correct answer is indicated by green, and an incorrect answer by red.

The gear at the upper right corner of the screen provides access to the exercise settings. Depending on the exercise, you can change, for example:

Your specialist may have already selected the required settings for you.

9. Specialist's Instructions and Communication Module

Your specialist can add instructions to each exercise in your or your child's plan. These instructions are tailed specifically to you or your child.

You can see the beginnings of such descriptions in the main view of the exercise plan. When you select it, a separate window will open, containing the full description.

In the same window, you can ask the specialist for more information about the exercise.

The conversation between you and the specialist is private.

10. Exercise Deadline

If the specialist has set a deadline for an exercise in the plan, you will see it in the main view of the plan.

When the deadline of an exercise has passed, it will be displayed under “Inactive Exercises”.

If a specialist has added a time for a video consultation, log in at that time to meet your specialist virtually.

11. Exercise Results

If the specialist has set a deadline for an exercise, you will see it in the main view of the exercise plan. When the deadline of an exercise has passed, it will be displayed under “Expired Exercises”.

You can later see your correct and incorrect answers on the intro page of the exercise in more detail, under “See the results”.

Here you can see the detailed results for each time you attempted to do the exercise. Depending on the content of the exercise, you can also see each correct, incorrect, or skipped answer here.

You will also be able to see your results on a timeline. This will allow you to measure your or your child’s progress visually over time.

The exercise results are also visible to your specialist, who will use them to update the exercise plan to carry out the therapy according to your or your child’s individual needs.

12. Exercise Status

The status of an exercise in the plan is indicated by a coloured circle:

13. Forgotten Login Code

If you have forgotten your four-letter login code, enter your email here.
